This is not a clever plan by CPQ to move product when the market is slow - it is, as Chuz suggests, just poor execution.

I agree with your analysis.... not clever and poor execution. None the less, some of the indicators that it takes place include rising revenue (cuz the ships to the channel are being driven up), reduced margin (cuz deals are being used to get the channels to take the shipments), and warnings of lower demand (cuz sales out from the channels is below sales in).

Sorry if my explanation was too basic.... I just got here. I'll be more respectful.
