SS - it is difficult to find consistency, and there is undoubtedly racism involved in concern or lack of concern - there has never apparently been too much worry about Africans and that includes Liberia for which the US should have shown some responsibility while they were killing, even eating (?), each other. And I agree about the Gulf War and the dreadful attitude towards the Iraqui people - and the so called 'no fly zones' which are not sanctioned by the UN and allows the US, and British to pick off targets with no accountability - a bored media doesn't even try to find out what they're really up to. There is much wrong with US foreign policy - but the present crisis has been difficult to make policy on because there has been so much foot dragging - and because M'vitch undoubtedly had this onslaught planned for some time. There is also the new trend - since the Gulf War perhaps - towards the idea that war is OK so long as 'not one of our boys is placed in harm's way' - which is somehow obscene when the enemy is being killed, and shows ultimately a lack of spine and courage on the part of the West. dd
