john..re dell sub 1k.. what most are missing is that when dell enters the sub 1k market it will be with a specific purpose built to order machine...from what i have read it will be more imac like than pc....cpq,ibm,hwp entered the sub 1k market with essentially a non sub 1k machine....sort of like mercedes trying to sell an stripped s-class at low price, to compete say, with bmw 3 series...in lieu of building the c-class... initially i was wary of dell in sub 1k..but it appears to be with a wintel version of an imac....the sales could be incredible...and yet maintain a good margin... ed a.
