Actually my claim is for the person to publically coin "Y2K" on the Peter de Jager maillist on 12 Jun 1995. Naturally a wiseacre friend tells me he began using Y2K on their internal (confidential) project list in 1993.

You must be a programmer, David. Since truncating date inputs in order to save memory space seems suspiciously similar to making Y2K the acronym for the Year 2000 programming fault.

Btw, did you ever follow the work that Bob Bemer was doing with his "bigits" technology?? I was in contact with him via email over 1 1/2 years ago when he was presenting his solution to Tony Keyes on his radio show. Sounded promising at the time. (He claimed to be the guy who provided the name "COBOL" to that attrocious programming language).
