Jim,

Growth rate of 40%!? Talking revenues or earnings here?

PE of 80!? Talking forward or backward PE here?

This is what I have, an earnings growth of 55% and a forward PE of 57 based on 76 cents of estimated earnings.

If you want to justify that DELL is a good short based on comparisons of backward PE with forward estimated revenues growth, you are most welcome, though! :-)

Jim,

Now you truly have your head up in a very dark place.

If you don't understand that INTC's chips are used by the boxmakers, then why in the world would anyone listen to anything else you type?

I repeat, when INTC blows away the estimates on Tuesday, Dell will fly. You've got Monday and Tuesday at most to have a little fun.

After that, your short position is almost certainly toast.

Wednesday, at the latest, we'll see which of the two of us the market believes is a complete idiot.

<<INTC reports on Tuesday. By Wednesday, all will know you're full of it.>>

I hope you are not a complete idiot but this statement is almost there. May be youn haven't heard yet, Intel is in the semiconductor industry and holds a monopoly, Dell is a box maker, a commodity.

jim...why resort to such words as "idiot"

dell makes computers...computers are not a commodity....wheat is a commodity..

when you learn the definitions and you can afford to go long an issue, then you can come back and discuss things in an intellectual no name calling fashion...until then, go play with the children who speak on the same crass level as you...

<<Please, either stop lying outright, or learn a few things, then open your trap.>> You obviously care a lot about working and playing well with others. Ian's posted here for a very long time, and I have found his posts to be constructive and credible. I've never for a moment questioned his honesty. And even if you do think that he's incorrect, I think it would be a little nicer if you'd provide some proof or politely told him that you think that he's wrong before you haul off and call him a liar. <<Intel is in the semiconductor industry and holds a monopoly....>> monopoly - exclusive control by one group of the means of producing or selling a commodity or service. (from Am. Heritage Dictionary, New College Edition) I can only presume that you have never heard of Advanced Micro Devices or Cyrix, both of which are publicly traded companies that produce CPU processors that are direct substitutes for the Intel Pentium CPU chip. Therefore, I respectfully disagree with your statement that Intel has a monopoly. Regards, Stephen
