U.S. sends more planes for NATO's Kosovo campaign

<< The United States said on Saturday it was sending 82 more warplanes to Europe to bolster NATO's air campaign against Yugoslavia.

Pentagon spokesman Ken Bacon said the United States was committing 24 more F-16 fighters armed with HARM anti-radar missiles, four more tank-busting A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft, six radar-jamming EA-6B Prowlers, 39 KC-135 and two KC-10 refueling tanker aircraft and seven C130 transports.

Bacon said Defense Secretary William Cohen had approved a request from NATO commander Gen. Wesley Clark for the package of additional American warplanes, which will join nearly 400 U.S. attack and support planes already in the region. >>

Lorne : I wasn't thinking about wiping out half of NY or LA, just a plane or two.

In fact, I imagine if the "terrorists" wanted to wipe out any big city, in this world, they could. Nuclear weapons are available in Russia/Belorus/Kazakstan/Ukraine for a song. Therefore I presume the reason it hasn't yet happened is that they don't want it to.

"It would seem in the world of wars its ok to kill innocent people but not kill the cause of the war a crazed political leader." True. But, once you realize that then you are immediately as cynical as I am! Then it becomes quite clear that the reason for war is not the reason given. That the "crazed political leader" is just the excuse for war --- not the cause.

That's why I keep asking "What is the US doing in the Balkans?"
