ctc, first of all, the channel stuff concept has been on the mb thread since at least november. this wasn't new to mike and it is disingenuine of you to say that you were vindicated on view that he put forth months before this "debate" ever occurred. please. i remember getting nastygrams back in 1998 when i suggested such a stupid idea to the amat bulls - cpq couldn't be that dumb, they argued ;-)

as for seasonal factors, yes, you were right on that - though you did guess, too. when asked for data you couldn't provide it ;-) but, you were right. however, i think you won the battle only to lose the war. what you don't mention is that the market share loss was 5 times normal...

was that due to channel stuffing by cpq? didn't they stuff the channel last year, too? yup. but dell didn't lose as much market share last year, did they? not even close.

the market is shrinking. dell is currently doing well. however, the trend is negative and the dynamics of this industry are changing rapidly.
