"Is there a Yahweh? Is He indeed the Most Powerful of All Gods? Did He change His covenant with humanity in midstream, from one of exclusivity into one of openness? These are all interesting questions. How many people seriously ponder them?" Andy, "Is there a Yahweh? Yes! How do I know? Through faith in Christ I've had the privilege of meeting Him personally in the Spirit. Is He indeed the Most Powerful of All Gods? No! He is the only God and creator of all that is seen and unseen. He is a Triune, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Through the sacrifice and blood of his Son, he cleanses and restores fallen creation and brings them back into fellowship and oneness with himself through the power of his Holy Spirit. "Did He change His covenant with humanity in midstream, from one of exclusivity into one of openness?" No, I don't interpret that way. He fulfilled his promises to make a New Covenant with the House of Israel and Judah, and all mankind. Ancient Israel was chosen as a school, a spiritual example and training ground for God to bring forth his perfect redemption. The rubrics of the old covenant were symbolic of the eternal spiritual realities contained in the new that would be revealed through the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus. The old covenant was never exclusive, but always admitted men and women with the faith of Abraham--Ruth, Joseph's wife, Rahab are prominent examples of this non-exclusivity. Some of the Jewish leaders, however, misread God's intention and tried to make it a racist and exclusive religion. Note the words of John the Baptist when he spoke to the exclusive Pharisees that came to his baptism: And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able to these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. God sent many Prophets to warn the Hebrew leaders of their sins, injustices, and exclusivity, but they killed them. This is why God finally sent his Son to claim his heritage among mankind by having his Son redeem man from their sins and give the keys of his Kingdom to His Church so they could bring forth the fruits. In Summary, the New Covenant says: If you believe and confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and believe in your heart that God the Father has raised him from the dead you shall be saved---made into a son of God and given the Holy Spirit for sanctification and instruction.
