IPO stocks

Currently, trade orders for the following security cannot be placed through the Schwab Web site:

IPO's (Initial Public Offerings):

Dragon Systems Inc (DRGN)
Pomeroy Select Int (PSIS)
(A firm date as to when Dragon Systems Inc (DRGN), Pomeroy Select Int (PSIS) may come to the marketplace has not yet been determined.)

IPO's and other stocks are occasionally removed from Schwab's electronic trading systems (i.e. TeleBroker and StreetSmart) due to expected volatility and fast-market conditions when they begin trading.

Such conditions can result in:

significant discrepancies between quotes and trade execution prices;
delays in order execution reports; increased risk to customers placing trades in these securities For these securities, we ask that you place orders with the help of a Schwab representative so that we may better assist you in meeting your objectives.

Change and change/cancel orders

During fast-market conditions, please do not attempt to change or cancel market or market-type orders. If you want to change or cancel one of these orders, please call a Schwab representative. This is very important as duplicate orders may be executed as a result, and could ultimately be your responsibility. Remember that when you attempt to change or cancel a market or market-type order in a fast market, we can only process your request on a best-efforts basis. An alternate strategy to consider is to place a limit order or an "or-better" limit order that establishes a buy price at the maximum price you are willing to pay or a sale price at the lowest price you are willing to receive. These steps can help reduce your risk of duplicate orders and ensure the price you receive is within your limits.

New margin trading maintenance requirements and buying power calculation for volatile stocks

In response to the recent volatility of certain stocks, the margin maintenance requirements for the 90 stocks listed below are now subject to either a 50% or 70% maintenance requirement. We want to ensure that your account maintains sufficient equity to cover large price movements in these particular stocks.

Maintenance requirements may change without notice. Trades in these stocks should be placed with the new requirements in mind. The Buying Power for these stocks can be derived by accessing Buying Power Detail in the Balances screen and dividing the non-marginable securities balance by the applicable maintenance requirement.

The following stocks are now subject to the new 70% maintenance requirement:

For securities with a 70% maintenance requirement, the buying power is equal to the non-marginable securities buying power balance divided by .70.
