Dipy,

I'm enjoying the discussion between you and Jock.

Re:
...with LSI, I have been able to capture the big moves and have managed to make good profits during a period when the "buy-and-hold"ers have struggled to break-even

Maybe those buy-and-holders you refer to bought at the wrong time. I am a buy-and-hold investor (mainly because I can't handle the stress of trading the ups and downs) and I have done quite well on LSI (+100%) over the last couple years. Of course, mine is only a paper profit at this point. My other reluctance to engage in trading, besides the stress, is that I wonder if it can compare with returns like that, especially over a long time period and a whole portfolio. Now LSI is admittedly the best performer in my portfolio, but could I have done any better as a part-time investor by trading the market?

Also, I seem to have done my best investing in the tech sector, where I understand the industry, and made my biggest mistakes outside it, where I didn't understand the industry. Do you think the dividend model applies in the tech sector also? I do have some tech stocks that pay dividends, but these dividends are small, and lot of seemingly good companies don't pay any dividends at all in this industry.

Regards,
G.P.
