Every time I look at the bookmark list DAR has something godawful like "142 new", or "87 new". I tend to read the last 10, and see if it is a conversation I want to join. One this one the "new" counts tend to be more reasonable. I tend to join discussion of politics and history in preference to those about ordinary life simply because ordinary life in these parts is a bit removed from ordinary life in those parts. The conversations make me feel a bit like a visitor from outer space, at times. When we talk about ideas at least we're in the same general framework. Of course the good ideas are more fun to talk about.
