Yes and no. It's very complicated and impossible to sort
out. However, Dell uses a lot of suppliers CPQ doesn't
and vice versa.

Remember, a simple desktop can involve hundreds of suppliers
from sheet metal and plastics to capacitors and connectors
and ultimately to things like processors, hard drives and
monitors to name just a few. CPQ and DELL might get their
PII slot1 connectors from AMP but differ on memory socket
suppliers. This is one of the complexities R&D handles.
They generally design, specify, test, qualify all of these
components into a dependable... or not so dependable system...<g>

Big ticket items like monitors, HD, DVD, memory, graphics
controller etc... yes, their selection paths do cross more
frequently.

MEATHEAD
