But golly gee, I thought they were there to provide liquidity...and you tell us they will widen the spread and DECREASE liquidity,when they have the unfair advantage of a buddy calling with advance warning? All investors/traders/MMs/participants should have the same advantage. Thanks be to the techies for the internet..or we would still be in the dark ages with the "good old boy clubs"..they are still there, but they are worried...good for the little guy.

Thanks for the patient and clear explanation, Brec. What puzzles me in the case of HTSF is that there is clearly a bunch of shares parked at $2 to sell...every time the bid hits 2, the MM's start picking up a lot of shares. There is also a reasonable amount of buying pressure...but the MM's seem to keep the price down to avoid the sell orders at 2.

Just conjecture...if a computer were making the trades, well, are there any charts of a volatile stock out there that are handled by a computer MM that I might look at?
