Hi jon, welcome to the thread. regarding XOOM...Ironic that I took a small position at $66 on Friday just for the hell of it as it was dipping. And now you alert me to a possible deal with my darling GNET, which is my largest position. Next week should be interesting.

Yes but the article did not talk about gnet specifically.

I do not think that XMCM and GNET had discussions but could be wrong. Why? because the article mentions discussions about an investment (ie a lot of cash which GNET does not currently have - ok it will have more soon but not enought to effect change in XMCM control).

All that said, I would love to see the next big deal a true merger rather than an acquisition. Thus far the deals have been acquisitions in which 10 + 1 = 12 (ie synergy by combining big and little company). I would love to see 1 + 1 = 3 (bigger % synergy) or 1 + 1 + 1 = 5. My candidates for such a synergy are companies each near the top ten, with complementary characterisitcs. Specifically portal plus community plus e-commerce with great technology. Specifically GNET plus XMCM plus CNET.

all imo,

Gary
