Celeron-based systems will eventually kill off the PII.

It will become the chip of choice for corporate customers seeking desktop units.

That means that price competition will become intense.

Right now, the market is beginning the distillation process and there will be a wide divergence in price/offerings/incentives.

But, when CPQ decides to enter the sub-$600 Celeron market, the real fun for consumers begins.

I think the CPQ news will overshadow that "stuff." When I was in the city I saw a very nice looking HWP machine in CPU for $599, BTW. Believe it was an AMD K6 -- forgot all the important stats.
