PG&E's gonna miss the July 1 NRC deadline.

NUCLEAR PLANT OPERATORS REACT TO Y2K ISSUES
Excellent article explaining vulnerabilities in nuclear power plants.

They [PG&E] won't, however, be ready in time to meet a July 1 deadline set by the NRC for U.S. nuclear power plant owners to finish their Y2K remediation.

Diablo Canyon [nuclear power plant] will miss that deadline, Groff says, because some final Y2K-related activities in the plant's second nuclear unit aren't scheduled to occur until it goes offline for refueling in October. . . .

Guess we'll have to add PG&E to California's Y2K woes.
