Sig,

While at first, the thought of Dell taking over the manufacturing of IBM's PCs for that company, I have to wonder what's in it for Dell.

Dell seems to be limited more by its own ability to grow (i.e. build new plants and hire new employees) than constraints on demand.

As long as Dell grows 3.5 to 4 times as fast as the industry, it will continue to take share of a growing market. What benefit is there to give IBM the 6% royalty the Europeans are giving it? ... or any % for that matter.

After thoughts like these, I'd rather see the same stellar growth pace without paying IBM anything unless it adds corresponding value to the products sold.

FWIW,
Ian.
