RE: My point is that CPQ is no worse than last year. Besides its significant earning improvement year over year,......

You gotta be kidding!

This is the company that just a short while ago (like in the last two weeks) said they were up 50% in revenues and that it was coming from Dell customers!

This company employs the most misleading use of cover up spin I have ever seen. I'm sorry for their shareholders - maybe they will take steps to make changes at the top to correct the situation.

gc,

Well, it may be a relative improvement, but CPQ performed bad enough last year. ;-)

But this definitely puts the situation in a different light. Either way, I am happy that I am not a CPQ shareholder.

gc -
But, they denied it all along. This year, they are a little late in reporting the problem, but at least they told the truth.
Actually, CPQ warned earlier last year than this year, almost a month earlier. And we have yet to see if they are telling the truth, even now.

Last year they missed more than 50% in earning and more than 3% in revenue. Significant improvement in both front.

That is what they just reported - 3% rev shortfall, more than 50% earnings shortfall. Last year it was at least linked to a big revenue drop. I would say that this current news is more troublesome. Last year they could say that the underlying business was healthy and CPQ just made a bad decision. That was even pretty much true as later events showed. But what do they say about this situation?
