Steven,

As far as we've heard, they aren't introducing a 600 Mhz version, so the quote is either mistaken, or the articles about the 700 Mhz version were incomplete. Also, it won't be up to the salespeople so much as the PC companies, since the speed of the memory is tied to the speed of the processor through a multiple of a common clock signal.

Obviously the 700 Mhz version is great news! We've been saying that it was simply a production issue at this point. If yields were low on the 800 Mhz part, I would assume that they're high enough on the 700 Mhz product to make everyone happy (otherwise they would have stepped back even further, e.g. 600 Mhz). It sounds from the articles as if 800 Mhz will be a reality once the manufacturers have their .18 micron capabilities in place.

More importantly, Rambus DRAM will be out in the market. It's going to be tough for DDR DRAM to gain a foothold since they have limited infrastructure in place and the largest vendor of PC motherboards (Intel) refuses to support it.

Yahoo!!!!! (no, I don't own any)
