Pat, there is a SoundView technology conference. Anyway, what are your toughts on Etek?. No one seems to care about ETEK?. Look for Sycamore Networks (optical switching) IPO. Go to their web-site. Founders of Cascade Communications have started it. They are releasing their products in a couple of months. H&Q dates which you posted are right.

......Their literature indicates their technology is superior to lithium niobate and it might be good to get a discussion started both pro and con. Pat.... This Co. has completely underwhelming technology. I read some of the tech specifications and noted that the switching time is 150msec! That suggests that the technology is purely mechanical. While looking for a technical description of this so-called revolutionary technology, the discussion mentioned "servo systems" for maintaining alignment. Starswitch will undoubtedly have a market niche. Resorting to mechanical means to achieve all photonic switching appears to be a bit regressive. Don't count on them to become the next Cisco.
