John -
As to info from She_x - her contacts are mostly social, so the info she gets is who was seen going where, etc. not "data". Her opinions were just that - the opinion of a stockholder. I am always fascinated by the glimpses we get into the comings and goings at CPQ and the opinions of some of their people, but this is more in the range of gossip than information, and is presented as such. I think we all understand that if this was the result after strong March sales, January and February must have been unbelievably bad.

But the fact remains that EP and EM must surely have known weeks ago that there would be a huge miss - revenues are something like $500M under even the revised forecasts, and that kind of incremental revenue does not happen in a week or two. But more importantly, the earnings are so far short of the mark that it would have taken billions in sales to make up the shortfall.

Frankly I don't understand it at all and I am looking forward to the earnings announcement to shed some light on the situation.
