Comparison on institutional ownership and the short position. This is a comparison of MRVC to Internet vs. NASDAQ Blue Chips vs. FC Consensus Portfolio. I took a look at just three parameters comparing the following stocks - total shares, % institutional ownership, and the range of the short position as a percentage of the total float over the last 4 months of 1998. SHARES INST % SHORT MRVC 26.6M 26 1.3 - 11 ANCR 19.7M 2 5.9 - 12.6 EMLX 6.2M 43 0.9 - 1.7 QLGC 8.7M 83 2.4 - 4.2 EMC 501M 74 3.4 - 4.2 CMNT 22.1M 21 0.01 - 0.46 MSFT 2,493M 36 1.0 - 1.46 INTC 1,677M 48 1.1 - 1.4 CSCO 1,579M 59 1.4 - 1.6 AOL 458M 65 8.8 - 10 YHOO 98.6M 25 17 - 23 EBAY 40.2M 4 38 - 50 There are some interesting comparisons in this group.
