Something was posted here about two weeks ago, where I think one of Intel's Asian reps was quoted as saying that PIII sales were going very well, even ahead of internal forecasts (paraphrased). My take at the time was that this was one of those far-flung guys (where corporate communications policies don't get a lot of attention) just making off-the-cuff remarks. Still, the comment was made and since we have heard similar corroborating evidence here stateside, although not quite that directly. A lot has been made recently of the PIII transition blip in the industry and there was initial talk that the PIII was not well received, but those two notions seem to run counter to each other. Personally, I think Intel is doing very well, just like all well-managed companies tend to do (hint, hint).
