I hope you aren't counting the original Pentium with the slight FPU erratum as one of the several iterations.

BTW, sometimes designs DO work right out of the box.

Every design I have ever worked on has booted some OS at first silicon. There is a big difference between a design working out of the box, and a shippable product however.
