Paul Re <<That was then - this is now.>>

??? Now AMD has a higher market share than last year.

Re<<You may look at "market share" as the holy grail>>

Nope. Market share is important but not the "holy grail". At the end, earning and earning growth determines the market cap. That is why AMD has less than 1 percent of Intel's market cap while having 20% of the unit market share.

Re <<My guess is that Intel will CREAMED on Monday due to the Compaq fiasco, bringing its per share price down into the $55 - $60 range - remember Intel will be trading post-2-for-1 split on Monday.>>

Thanks. I also believe that Intel will get trimmed a few points, that is why I am interested. Intel is the only big cap tech stock which I like and I don't own (I already own CSCO and EMC, for 18 months). I have decided to put a limit order at 53.5 tomorrow morning (tomorrow instead of now so E*Trade does not screw up # of shares or price due to the split), probably will not get filled tomorrow. If it does not get filled, I probably will place a market order before the close on Tuesday.

Re <<if your are an investor.>>

Yes, I do not trade or know how to! I am an investor and I like AMD as a long term, high risk high return investment. I am looking to add Intel on this dip, also as a long term.
