Gary, CPQ may be selling a ton of cheap computers but WHERE IS THE MONEY? Shareholders will not tolerate this much longer and neither will wall street. If it came down to a price war, DELL will clean everyone's clock in no time.This is a no-brainer. EP and EM of cpq are almost finished ruining CPQ's core business so new leadership can step in and there we have another transition for cpq to handle meanwhile dell keeps chugging along as usual. The emachines are basically junk and consumers will scrap them when they decide they need to do more than just surf the internet, but that is positive for AOL and MSFT.

gary..re e-machines.. didn't we all go thru this futile excercise weeks ago about e-machines and we all decided that there was nothing left to say... whatever, keep on posting...and all the companies who sell thru the retail channels are bleeding profusely...makes sense to me for dell to self inflict wounds to their stellar balance sheet.. reread your last paragraph, with its compaq references...its a bit ludicrous...PLANET EARTH TO LARRY......COMPAQ HAS FAILED IN SELLING SMALL BUSINESSES AND CONSUMERS....THAT IS WHY THEIR EARNINGS ARE HORRENDOUS.....WHAT PART OF THE "YOU CAN"T SELL PRODUCT AT OR BELOW YOUR COST AND STAY IN BUSINESS FOR VERY LONG" STATEMENT DON"T YOU UNDERSTAND????
