Rally in the futures! <OK, so they went from 4950 to 4350...just kidding...everyone knows tomorrow morning will be ugly...and probably both Monday and Tuesday will be bad...>

Intel will likely stem the tide Tuesday afternoon...if earnings are good (or good enough) from Apple and Sun, we will probably end the week in the low 40's...and then start climbing again within another week...

The Street will (eventually) see this for what it is: Compaq-specific.

One bright spot: Ever since I remember, Chuck Hill of First Call has been negative, negative, negative on companies earnings, stating flatout that analyst estimates are too high and don't match reality..........this quarter....even he has been quoted as saying that corporate pre-announcements for tech companies are way down (in comparison to previous quarters), and that earnings (especially hardware) should be much better than last year..

bgr...it will be interesting tommorrow based on futures...but call me a cock eyed optimist, i think things will sort themselves out fairly quickly for dell, intc, msft, ibm, and maybe even hwp...cpq has it's problems...but tommorrow cpq's problems will work for me...holding a bunch of cpq 0040 puts that i sold a way back...got a 15 premium..time has eroded same, even if stock drops to 25 tommorrow...what it will do is hopefully inflate the 01's from a normally 1 spread to perhaps 3...time to roll if that happens...or if dell iv goes crazy, bye bye cpq..roll dell into del o1 60's....always opportunity for us "mental" guys....good luck, ed a

p.s...it could be a good time in a couple days for deep call buying, similar to a few weeks ago...would snap up 32.5's for may or later before wbm does...
