<<If DELL isTHE LOW COST OPERATOR.... why they can not compete with Emachines?>>

Stefan: DELL chooses not to go into the bargain basement part of the market. They are keeping the shareholders in mind. DELL can grow VERY PROFITABLY in the markets it has decided it wants to participate in -- and they are LARGE, global markets.

Remember, the DELL virtual integration model is a moving target -- it is CONSTANTLY improving. We clearly haven't seen many superior business models appear have we??

I rest my case.

Regards,

Scott

Just a thought, but can't companies like DELL be considered to be on borrowed time with regard to margins? The squeeze we see now is long overdue, and there is little or no reason for anyone, consumer or business to pay DELL's premium prices.

The Compaq numbers may be an aberration, or more likely, all this price competition is finally coming home to roost.

Stefan
Maybe you should team up with Gary over on the new e-machine thread. He's going to start one if you dont do it first.

stefan, stefan, stefan....dell the low cost operator..

your arguments are not only getting weaker, but becoming more and more illogical...

why can't dell compete with e-machines...first who is e-machines, a korean joint venture who makes mac clones and ibm clones...hyundai, probably the largest of korean industrial manufacturing conglomerates was at one time dominate in the low end sector...when the low end sector was sub 2k...guess what, they didn't make any money and exited the usa market...nec, a japanese powerhouse with all their monies and technology not able to keep packard bell afloat...e-machines not even close in financial capabilities as nec and hyundai...how many white box makers have fallen by the wayside since the 80's...do a little research...it's obvious my bedtime "lemonade" story did not open your eyes to what business is about in america...perhaps your socialist mind still believes all are equal...not so in the usa...

isn't it amazing that mercedes, jaguar, lexus, sells it's whole production out every year, with little or no leftovers...whilst gm and ford sits with over a hundred day supply on many models...why doesn't a mercedes customer buy a saturn, and to apply your previous posted lack of logic, if he is not comfortable with saturns reliability or warranty, then buy one for every day of the week..as you said buy "two e-machines"...

again the word "propaganda" ...you have a serious problem, and i'm beginning to think it's not with the language, because you appear to be ignorant and unwilling to accept the truth in any language...

"Dell Propaganda." you say. I bot a $6,800 Dimension P3, 25 Gig HD, 2 Superscan 814 monitors, voice recognition, 500 MH, scanner, etc, etc. from Dell & Gigabuys for my wife. This is the 4th top-of-the-lineDell my family bot in 8 months. and now my son Dan's telling me I need a Laptop.

Dell won't ship for another 2 weeks, must be busy.

The bitterness of poor quality survives long after the sweetness of cheapness is forgotten. If you're right I should have ordered a dozen supercheapies. Ever heard that you get what you pay for? Cadillac dealers stay in business, but 1 Caddy buys 4 Nissan Sentras. How many groupers and flounders are mounted and hanging walls, Stefan? That's where you see Marlins! Few brag on the perch they caught.

CPQ has abyssimal customer satisfaction ratings. A storm blew the modem on my Dell and a new one was installed before noon the next day. When my son Vincent's wife became pregnant for the first time I bought them a Suburban, saying that no grandbabies of mine would ride Atlanta traffic in a Kleenex box. Years later Valerie was 3 days from delivering #4 when she was broadsided. 3 children with her but there was no injury to my family, the Suburban was repairable, the other car was DESTROYED.

Now, Stefan, explain to me the great advantages in gas mileage and cost savings we would have experienced had I bought her a Yugo. Factor in the price of some funerals, too. Often, the best is the Cheapest!

I doubt you understand the valu of QUALITY, and have little sense of the singularity Michael Dell achieved in getting a 25,000 multinational work force to make the finest products on the planet! You can argue a year, but Dell is eating everybody's breakfast, lunch and dinner because they deserve to, Dell is worth the price! Ask K-Mart, Ford and the US Air Force!

And Stefan, next time you go perch fishing don't call me, OK?
