The release of the 333Mhz iMacs seems botched to me. It is very strange for a new product to arrive in the channel before an announcement.

Then again, the Rev. B's were introduced with no fanfare, so maybe that is the plan for Rev. D as well. However, that was just a graphics upgrade (Rage Pro + 6MBH VRAM) while this is processor speed.

April 19th has to be Quicktime 4.0's day, given the conference timing. I wouldn't expect anything (!) else until WWDC.

Announcements we are all waiting for:

* Mac OS 8.6
* New PowerBooks
* Consumer Portable
* Mac OS 8.7 (Carbon for Mac OS 8)
* Next-Generation iMac
* Mac OS X Beta
* Mac OS X Final

Sam, I have no idea when or what strategies the company may be trying to employ with the news of the 333 mhz iMacs. What I do know is that at some point in the next 2 weeks there will be an official press release of the information.

What is significant is that when the fact of the iMac having already reached a third tier speed bump in less than 9 months starts to sink in, investors are going to realize that Apple will have no trouble keeping their momentum up.
