Sorry El,
The registration is free:http://www.ft.com/. For some reason
I cannot cut and paste.

Here is the synopsis:
Headline: Compaq Profits Warning to Hit Stocks

U.S. markets are braced for a fall in high technology stocks when
trading resumes today following the bruising profits warning issued
late on Friday by Compaq....
Compaq blaming lower than anticipated demand and increased competitive
pricing in the pc sector....
The Dow Jones , whose components include IBM and HP, is also likely
to be affected in the short term.
But they (analysts) were divided on how much longer term damage
Compaq's warning would do to the broader investor sentiment in the
U.S. an internationally....
Asok Kumar, tech analyst at Piper Jaffray said " In the short term,
there is a lot of concern and a lot of scepticism (sic). You will see
some trading down in sympathy, but I think sanity will prevail when
Intel reports"....
James Cramer, a hedge fund manager said "These problems are peculiar
to that subset of tech which is personal computers. They do not extend to the web, or to networking, or to bandwidth, the prevailing themes
that were working in the market".

DO YOU THINK THEY WILL FINALLY FIRE ECKHARD PFEIFER?...How much of this do you think is due to the head honcho, or the head honcho(s) at CPQ?

Regards, George

EL
I believe all the time and money being spent on beefing up
AV for the future has distracted top management from dealing
with the nuts and bolts of our company.
Were the revenue numbers estimated at 9.4 billion? And if
those numbers are close, it seems that $.15 must be low.How could
gross that much and net so little?
Closing price Monday IMHO will be 21-23.By the end of the week
19,unless some mighty positive news.
