Hi Jack,

Palladium to Platinum ratio at Stillwater is 3.35 to 1, final figures on last year production was something around 450,000 ounces. I missed the mark by 150k ounces...In year 2001 production supposed to be around 1.9 million ounces...They discard material in the .3 ounce per ton range....average ounce per ton for last 5 years has been .7 or .8 ounces per ton....Time frame for mine is about another 50 years.
It costs them about 150 to 170 dollars to mine an ounce...

They don't use AA process in identifying values for platinum, iron content in ore cause erroneous readings, they utilize X-ray refraction process for determining values.

Their ore generally carries: 47% palladium, 16% platinum, 1% gold, 1/2% Rhodium and 1/4% silver. The platinum is originally in a copper sulfide which is eventually discarded.

Just thought you might want to know...
