Renmin Ribao: "The Law of the
Jungle" on the World Scene Again
April 11, 1999

BEIJING, April 10 (Tanjug) - The NATO
military intervention in Yugoslavia surpasses by
far the region of Europe, seriously imperilling
the present world mechanism of security and
the norms of international relations, the leading
Chinese daily "Renmin Ribao" warns, today.

The editorial of the newspaper states that this
"dangerous international event" at the end of
the century, has caused "great concern and
consideration among all peace-loving countries
and peoples throughout the world" and emphasizes that the NATO
aggressions against Yugoslavia "directly concerns the issues of great
importance" - what will the world embarking upon the 21st century be
like.

The NATO aggression against Yugoslavia is a proof of the fact that "the
political gunboat from the period of colonialism has revamped and that the
"law of the jungle" is back on the global scene". What is concerned here,
as the newspaper explains is "the politics of heavy pressure (by America)
which has extorted the employment of military force without much
restraint, the imposition of a "consensus" on the intervention in a sovereign
country or on the destruction of that country by military attacks".

The most influential Chinese newspaper, however, considers that things
will not develop in accordance with such "futile expectations by NATO
and America". "NATO has morally lost in the issue of Kosovo"; its
aggression against Yugoslavia will not be a positive circumstance for the
NATO's "new strategic concept", and this concept "will never be able to
change the main tendency of the modern world, which is characterized by
peace and development", estimates the Chinese daily, suggesting that the
countries supporting this tendency, must confront the NATO domination.

The newspaper emphasizes that there is no way that the NATO's military
intervention in the internal affairs of Yugoslavia can be justified under the
pretext of "preventing a humanitarian plight". Explaining that there are
deeper reasons for such aggressive behaviour by NATO, the newspaper
cites that it centres around the effort of America to find its reasons for the
existence of this military organization.

"By losing NATO, the USA would lose their dominant position in the
Euro-Atlantic strategy, whereby they would lose, to a great extent, their
dominant position within the framework of security in Europe and the
whole world". The USA tries to complete their spreading of NATO
towards the East, before Russia recovers, the newspaper estimates.

The so called "humanitarian intervention" by the USA and NATO in
Kosovo is an evident expression of the "cold war mentality", the daily
warns, which "draws a line in accordance with the system of Western
values and strategic interests.

"The supposed American strategic opponents and potential enemies, are
the target of the attack and blocking", emphasizes the newspaper, in the
context of which one can also discern the American behaviour in relation
to China. Those who surrender are "good", and those who offer
resistance "will be destroyed", the newspaper goes on to say, defining the
essence of the American NATO violence and their attempt to introduce
"the law of the jungle" in the international relations.

At issue is America's "new interventionism", or the so called "globalization"
on the tide of the cold war. "NATO insists on materializing its military
presence in Yugoslavia, including its strategic objective to remove the
obstacle to its breaking through towards the East which is aimed at
reducing Russia's strategic space and getting a firm hold of a dominant
position in the matters of European and world security", states the Chinese
daily in explaining the real intentions of the planners of the criminal
aggression against Yugoslavia. The comprehensive unification of the
military and political function of NATO, actually means pushing the UN
aside. The security system created after World War II has thereby been
"seriously impaired", NATO has become "the instrument of a super power
the aim of which is domination of the world", while the international
community does not have an efficient mechanism of stopping this, warns
the newspaper.

The newspaper points to the fact that "NATO has launched the
aggression under the pretext of protection of human rights, whereby the
holy principle of inviolability of state sovereignty and territorial integrity has
been violated". "The recognized standards of the international law have
been trampled, and the cornerstone of the relations between the states has
been shaken", assesses Renmin Ribao.

<< To you of course it was very well thought out. >>

NATO's humanitarian mission of saving the Kosovos and destroying Slob Milosevic's war making machine must succeed. History will be the judge.

Unfortunately, Slob Milosevic is using the confusion as an opportunity to kill off his opposition in Yugoslavia. Sadly, a hero of the Serbs, Slavko Curuvija, owener of the Dnevni Telegraf, was killed by some of Milosevic's thugs. Slavko was one of the few journalists that dared to tell the people of Yugoslavia the truth about the self imposed dictator, Slob Milosevic.

Now it becomes more important for NATO or the Serbs to take out Milosevic. If Milosevic is not destroyed, Serbia will face many years of a ruthless dictatorship from him. When Milosevic runs out of non-serbs to brutalize he will turn on his own people. This is the way of all corrupt, greedy, power hungry dictators.

Does anyone really believe that there will ever be free elections in Serbia as long as the Slob is in power?
