Gary-Thank you for your well thought-out and complete responses, although one may have a difference of opinion with you (in areas), I can not possibly have a qualm with your efforts. Also, thank you for not resorting to throwaway (personal) insults as a finish (not that you have, but others frequently do)..

I guess we are back in the wait-and-see camp here....so I'll wait and see...one clarification...I didn't mean to imply that e-machines is not making money now....I reckon they are making some....(What I meant to say is that) time will tell whether, after this initial spurt, they can profitably perform in market segments where their current model is no longer appropriate (and a much bigger organization and cost structure (much bigger sales? service org.?) is needed....a different kind of company...

Initially, building this infrastructure will be a cost (a big one at that)...I could easily see this leading to unprofitable sales (for relatively meager marketshare) if this is not handled correctly..
ask Gateway, Micron....

I'll refrain from bringing up Yugo, Hyundai...oops, I already did...<gg> just teasing...(not referring to e-machines quality-wise, but these guys had problems in the 80's, as you probably know, taking things to the next level, and an initial good start.....

BTW- I wonder if the weak won has anything to do with e-machines low prices?
