I agree with that prediction. My point, however, is that while on the surface it may seem like amazon.com ruining other booksellers while losing money itself, the AMD experience shows that it is hard to succeed with that model in the h/w business. So, my point is that the sub-600 boxmakers need to make money. Now, DELL claims inability to make money in the sub-400 domain. Unless microworkz has a better model than DELL, it pretty much seals their fate. As for emachines, I have been calculating how much it would have cost me to put together the same machine for a while. It seems that it is hard for them to make money as well.

Can someone enlighten me: What's e-machine's business model? Why can e-machine profitably sells its pc under $500 while Dell can't? Is there any superiority in its model?
