THE WEAK AHEAD: Indications are that we open down hard tomorrow. Asia taking a big hit today. . .Hong Kong and Japan down about 1.6 percent. Spoos down 20+. Hard to imagine that is all CPQ related. . .think it is more to do with war and fear of the future than anything any one stock could do, unless the fear extends to INTC's Tuesday earnings. . .rumor is they will surprise up.

This pressure is not worth any sort of panic selling, IMO. . .best to get a clear direction first, IMO. Shorting QQQ might be good tomorrow, but not clear on long term at this time. I think we could still see some action for a while beyond this turmoil and that the top to this bubble has an even chance of not yet being hit.

I am looking to take SOME profits where I can, but only if stocks are near high in trading ranges. . . and only high-techs. . .but not planning to sell all of anything. . .just part sells to reduce risk/exposure some. . .there will definitely be some INTC panic sellers in anticipation of a bad report Tuesday. . .weak hands and weak stomachs. . .but if they do surprise upward, then it will be like the ground hog not seeing his shadow, and we will have about 2 or 3 more weeks of irrational exuberance. If not, then we cut more exposure. . .but we NEVER panic sell. . . we sell into the strong days. . .and buy into the weak.

Best wishes to all.

Rande - Re: ELCO - I read through the brief financials, news, checked the web and e-comerce site (impressive), read a few messages and like what I see so far. It really reminds me of EGGS (Egghead). They were struggling as a software outlet @ around $6-8 per share, announced e-commerce and rocketed to over $40 per share, now relatively steady @$16-18. Big difference is the 800 million revenue that Elco has. It seems to have all the characteristics of a diamond in the rough. There is only 10K short and no insider sales. 52 week high of 6+ and high of 16 in summer of '96. At 3 1/8 it might be a consideration for both a long term and a momo play as news is released on e-commerce sales. Very interested to hear any further thoughts you and others might have.
