Jill, What you stated is more likely to be my strategy. I am just waiting to see how it unfolds tomorrow before deciding.
You are right in that buying good stocks on weakness is a better idea. My first choice is Intel. I actually expect it to be trading little changed or even higher by the end of the day. Will try stocks or small plays in April calls depending upon what vibes i get from the market.

BTW--I hope you still hold Wal-Mart because it is flying. I have some April calls along with a lot of shares. Planning to sell the options tomorrow (got a great gain---even after getting in after the stock hit 90). Keeping the shares for the stock split at the end of the week.
