Blue, he has gone to bed, and i sure can't elucidate. I know nothing about the Bible, never having read it, and i have only horrid childhood associations with it and its adherents so wouldn't want to dwell on it. And its main self appointed representatives here don't recommend it to me as an instrument for self improvement. (I don't count you, Sidney!; You know I think you're deluded, but not evil like a couple of your confreres give every appearance of being.)

Oh, here he is, and he says there are two really interesting books, classics of modern Biblical scholarship, relating to this question-- though I won't read them myself, maybe you would, Blue! He says they've been very influential and they're both available in paperback, if you are curious.

The two are Jesus the Jew and The Religion of Jesus the Jew, both by Geza Vermez. (I seem to recall typing these titles earlier.) Neither book is very long.
