Steven, the "eschatologically deluded" phrase was in a sentence I quoted from a post from "N" (E's husband).

While I basically agree with you, in fairness to the scholars, I think what they meant to say was that Jesus was clearly deluded, if he indeed believed, as they think he did, that God was going to come down from the skies to end the world, and to exalt him (Jesus) alongside...

Of course, their belief about his belief could also be deluded, possibly...

Steven, that was N's remark (the "eschatologically deluded" one), and I think it's fair to characterize them as 'deluded' if they say the world is going to come to an end and a new world begin within the lifetime of Jesus's immediate disciples... and it doesn't.
