Ericsson expands network for One 2 One

Note: This press release shows the order I referred to earlier...

Date: Monday, April 12 1999

Ericsson and UK operator One 2 One have signed a contract valued at
USD 320 million (SEK 2,560 million) to expand One 2 One's GSM network.

Within the contract, Ericsson is delivering radio base station and base station controller equipment and AXE solutions to support continued growth and provide additional capacity for One 2 One.

This order, along with recent orders for Ericsson's packet switching GPRS system (General Packet Radio Service), will ensure that One 2 One can continue to roll out the very latest services and maintain the rapid expansion of its customer base, which is currently over 2.25 million.

Ericsson has supplied GSM network infrastructure to One 2 One since 1991, leading to the launch of the world's first commercial GSM 1800 service, in September 1993.

In 1995, Ericsson was contracted by One 2 One to provide infrastructure equipment and turnkey services to undertake a major rapid network expansion. These latest orders further confirm Ericsson as the major supplier to One 2 One.

GSM is the world's most widely deployed wireless communications standard. Ericsson is the global market leader in GSM, with close to half of the world's 150 million GSM subscribers connected by Ericsson systems. More than 125 operators in some 65 countries around the world rely on GSM systems from Ericsson.

Ericsson is the leading provider in the new telecoms world, with
communications solutions that combine telecom and datacom technologies with the freedom of mobility for the user. With more than 100,000 employees in 140 countries, Ericsson simplifies communications for its customers - network operators, service providers, enterprises and consumers - the world over.
