Security Dynamics Previews Strong Authentication Solution for Microsoft
Windows 2000

ACE/Agent(TM) for Windows 2000 Pre-Release Included on Beta 3 CD-ROM

BEDFORD, Mass., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Security Dynamics Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: SDTI - news) today previewed the latest member of its industry
leading family of strong authentication products, offering a new version of its ACE/Agent(TM) security component on the upcoming Microsoft Windows 2000 beta
3 release CD-ROM.

ACE/Agent for Windows 2000, used in conjunction with Security Dynamics' ACE/Server® authentication management software and SecurID® authentication
options, is designed to provide strong, two-factor authentication for accessing Windows 2000-based networks, IIS Web servers, and Windows 2000-based
desktops. Security Dynamics' solution is designed to enable businesses to use both remote access and Internet technology for communications and
information-sharing among employees, trusted vendors, partners and customers on networks running Windows 2000 while protecting sensitive data.

''Security is the foundation of e-commerce,'' said Ed Muth, group product manager, Windows NT Server and infrastructure marketing at Microsoft Corp. ''By
providing support for the Windows 2000 platform with its industry-leading security solutions, Security Dynamics enables organizations to create a vital layer of
protection against the security threats associated with conducting electronic business without compromising proprietary data.''

ACE/Agent for Windows 2000, currently in beta, is intended to allow network administrators to replace the weak, static password protection of systems running
Windows 2000 with strong, two-factor SecurID authentication. It supports a broad choice of remote access methods, including PPP, PPTP, L2TP, X.25, ISDN
and others, through its implementation of the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP).

''Our support of this protocol is a major leap forward, providing businesses with the greatest flexibility in remote access methods without having to sacrifice
security,'' said Scott Schnell, senior vice president of marketing for Security Dynamics. ''As the first security vendor to support EAP, this beta release reaffirms our
dedication to extending our product family and developing products for all major platforms.''

ACE/Agent for Windows 2000 requires a user to first enter a personal identification number (PIN) in combination with a randomly generated token code from the
SecurID authenticator before it will either grant or deny user access to the corporate network or protected Web pages. SecurID authenticators are available in credit
card-sized smart cards and hardware tokens, key fobs and software tokens, as well as for the Palm Computing platform, making it the broadest selection of such
devices in the industry. Protecting Remote Access

As companies increasingly rely on remote users and a mobile workforce, secure remote access to network services is paramount in protecting corporate resources
and data from unauthorized access. Companies using Windows 2000-based systems as remote access servers can configure ACE/Agent for Windows 2000 to
require remote users to authenticate themselves with SecurID technology before being granted network access. And ACE/Agent's support of EAP gives companies
a broad choice of remote access options.

Protecting Web

The ACE/Agent for Windows 2000 is designed to enable secure Web-based access to individualized database information only if the user is authenticated with a
SecurID authenticator. It is also designed to provide the capability to segment Web page access to specific groups, and then grant access to different pieces of
information for different groups of users based solely on SecurID authentication.

Protecting Local Logon

The secure local logon functionality in the ACE/Agent for Windows 2000 is designed to allow administrators to safely secure individual or shared desktops. To
accomplish this, the ACE/Agent for Windows 2000 is designed to require SecurID authentication of a user attempting direct access to a workstation, ensuring that
only authorized users have access to a given server or workstation within a given Windows 2000 environment.

Easy Management

ACE/Agent for Windows 2000 fully supports the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), the preferred method of managing Windows 2000 systems. About
