Don't know about quick trading profits on CPQ, but after 30 years in the computer industry I can tell that this type of merger is very high risk and is unlikely to provide the benefits anticipated. I doubt this will be CPQs last bad report.

**OT**

I'm not very good at playing dead-cat bounces, and that's all CPQ can expect. Check out what Pfeiffer is saying about price competition and how it could get worse next quarter.

Good luck.

O/T Compaq - any bottom fishers?

Buying CPQ today would be like buying 3COM in April 1997 (instead on Cisco), or buying AMD in June 1998 (instead of Intel). If CPQ drags down its sector, that would be an opportunity to buy the best company in that sector, not the ones with an obsolete and failing business model.

When you stick your hand down into the mud at the bottom of the barrel, sometimes you find diamonds. But, mostly, you find mud.

On topic: so why isn't RIG breaking up out of its bottom trading range? If it doesn't break above, and stay above, 31, soon, I'm going to give up on it, take my smallish gains and go elsewhere. The SLB chart of the last 4 months looks a lot different. Think I'll hold onto that one.
