Doesn't QUALCOMM receive royalties from CDMA chips produced by companies like Samsung? Seems to me this is good news, as it increases the number of manufacturers making capital investments in CDMA technology.

If Q based phones function/bells and whistles much greater, then we needn't be too concerned.

QCOM should be very concerned. While it is true that QCOM receive
royalties, these royalties don't replace revenue (and profit) that QCOM would have accrued if they had sold the actual ASIC.

Remember that Samsung is no 'phone manufacturing virgin. Their SGH
range is extremely impressive. They can leverage the 'bells and whistles' from the GSM range to their CDMA 'phone relatively easily
