eBay in Internet shipping partnership
SAN JOSE, Calif., April 12 (Reuters) - Internet auctioneer eBay Inc. said Monday it would team up with U.S. Office Products Co. (Nasdaq:OFIS - news) and iShip.com in a shipping pact for Web commerce.

The company said in a statement that it had entered a five-year agreement with Mail Boxes Etc., a unit of U.S. Office Products and a franchiser of business and postal service centers.

eBay also is planning on a pact with iShip.com, a shipping services company focused on Internet commerce.

The deals would give eBay members an integrated system for e-commerce shipping, the statement said. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Under the planned agreement, iShip.com will provide information to eBay sellers and buyers about shipping costs and options.

Mail Boxes Etc. will offer eBay sellers and buyers the infrastructure for packing and shipping.

In addition, eBay and Mail Boxes Etc. expect to implement a program where Mail Boxes Etc. franchisees will provide a place for delivery and inspection of goods.

To support the partnership, Mail Boxes Etc. will start to link satellite technology with point-of-sale computer systems throughout its network of 3,000 domestic franchises.
