I suggest a product mix that does not annihilate profits! Like a very strong hi-end product strategy to compensate for the $0 margins on low end product. Looks like they focus all their efforts on sub $1000 sub $700 sub whatever PCs.

How much do we hear about what they are doing in the high-end? How many toplines do they make with their server/wstation products? How much do we hear about what they are doing with Digital, except to apologize about how hard it is to swallow such a big acquisition? Or outside the PC industry with AltaVista? Most stories about CPQ are $ centric, and talk about low-cost PC.

No doubt in my mind CPQ has what it takes to be successful. But I really question their current approach to the market.

All just my opinion of course, I do not mean to bug CPQ shareholders, the timing would be inadequate. All I am saying is yes CPQ can only go up from here; but I still find their model unbalanced.

Victor: Currently there is about 30% excess capacity. I am not sure how this problem can be solved.

There needs to be some more consolidation of the Box makers and a stronger shift to Services.

Victor...hope your big VOCLF gains from the past 2 days are offsetting your CPQ hit a bit...

What a POWERFUL market we are in...seems most of my stocks are now in the plus column for the day, and the Dow is on the verge of going positive...Even the S&P might go positive before it is over.

I guess everyone already considered CPQ a broken out-of-favor dog, so it really doesn't make any sense that it could be the stock to break this market's back...

GO VOCLF !!!!
GO BRKT !!!!

Jimbo.
