To "Garden Man". you're - basically - correct but you have got to remember that investing (successfully) in the stock market is most definitely NOT an "exact" science. when you have been in this "crazy" business for as long as i have been you learn to watch for certain "subtle" factors that are happening to a company and to the stock price of that company. "factors" such as - "volume" (activity) in the daily trading of the stock - stock "chatter" about the company (the company is becoming "discovered") - recent "news" ("PR's") about the company (are they mostly "positive" or "negative") - basic "momentum" of the stock price of the company over the last few days of trading - general over-all "interest" in the company compared to the interest in the companies competitors. yes - these are all VERY "covert" events but to the "trained-eye" they mean a lot. however - again - you are basically correct - there is no absolute "guarantees" in this business. to me - that is what makes the business so exciting and so much FUN!! take care, my friend.
