Nick, I found that the site linked below helped to shed some light upon the GBLX/FRO merger. An excerpt from the 3/18/99 report follows: ANALYTICAL SUMMARY: We are taking a very positive position on Global Crossing's acquisition of Frontier, which brings with it an extensive U.S. fiber network, a portfolio of established customers and channels, and a skilled enterprise sales force. The announcement will have a moderate to high impact on the industry because domestic competitors will have to contend with a global up-and-comer that ultimately will have incredible worldwide broadband capacity network reach.
