How about no testing? Would that make you happier? It
would make for an even less expensive machine. Why do
some machines lock up in the middle of an important spreadsheet..
blame it on Windows98... surely shoddy hardware design would
not cause it. If you want to see 1% resistors, check the
on-board power regulation system. Look at the motherboard
on eM's website.. old technology... dip switches yuck...
does the front side bus use single or dual termination? I don't think you are and engineer so you wouldn't understand
any of this.

So how about this.

Does the eM 333id for $599 come with a monitor? No.
Add $175 to equal the quality of the 15" from Dell.
Does it come with speakers? No. Add $25. Now what is
the delta? $200.

8MB vs 4MB of SGRAM video memory, US Robitics vs. who-knows
modem, Yamaha 64V vs. Crystal CS4235, 3 memory slots
vs. 2. Better warranty... on-site. A dollar here, a
dollar there... ok, I'll concede a few bucks for DVD.

So how much more incredibly expensive is the Dell machine?
$100??? I design PC systems for a living so you cant
tell me that all machines are created equal from a reliability
standpoint. Testing multiple permutations under many operating
conditions and software environments in conjunction with solid electrical engineering is worth a few extra bucks alone.
