Compaq CEO says Q1 shortfall felt globally NEW YORK, April 12 (Reuters) - Compaq Computer Corp. <CPQ.N> said its first-quarter financial shortfall is focused in its commercial personal computer business and around the globe, with Europe, and especially North America, hardest hit. In a conference call with analysts Monday, Chief Executive Eckhard Pfeiffer attributed his company's troubles to weak industry-wide PC demand, intense price wars and an unfavorable mix of lower margin products instead of higher margin ones.
