He added, "This increased demand and the status of our integration plan implementation increases our confidence in achieving pretax break-even performance, excluding our restructuring charge, for the second half of FY 99, as previously announced on March 8, 1999."

I think the bold section needed to be highlighted, otherwise our resident nay-sayer would have jumped all over us. We can't be seen looking for the silver linings.

That's just too bullish and biased, now isn't it?

Oso:

By my math, we need to make .27 in order to break even over last 2 qtrs. It would seem that Budd is telling the world that they have outstripped analysts estimates.

Must be that new math. ABTX is saying they won't loss any money in the second half of their fiscal year. Figure in what they lost in the first half and they will lose around 25 cents this year. Last time the analysts bothered updated their estimates they were still looking for ABTX to make 8 cents this fiscal year. No estimate beating surprise in the making here.

hate to agree with drakes but his does seem to be the more likely reading of that statement -- break even for 2nd half of the year (not the entire fiscal year).
