James, I thought that was what the "checks and balances" was supposed to be for. Judicial, executive and congressional branches. What has happened over the past 35 years in particular is the elimination of distinguishing among them. The judicial branch has been compromised by the "executive" appointments made to the Supreme Court - alliance to political party and not to the laws of justice nor to the constitution but political winds and allegiances; the congressional branch has been alligned on politics and allegiance to the president in power - they have become the "political army" for each political party. Evidence the legal arguments debated in the House during the impeachment trial and the arguments in favor of the president - not based upon what is right and wrong - but based on this is "my party" and I must save my party by keeping this immoral president who commits criminal acts. Justice has become a cursory incumbrance, to be disdained when addressing the party in power. I cannot eplain the gutless inaction on the part of the elders. The lack of action by the house is a shock in this last move by the president. he declares institution of the war powers act, and the house goes on recess, or 28 go to china and promise that the "minor delay" in tmo inclusion will be approved inside 3 months - arrogance prevails. We can support our troops by getting them out of harms in an ill thought out action that this country will pay in future international relations for decades. Right now, all actions NATO and the US are engaged in are cold hearted and inhumanitarian, regardless of what they protend. This action will NOT be forgotten if ever forgiven by all sides, including all Europeans for the massive destruction we have engaged in, let alone all our other enemies. clinton, albright, nato press conference "propaganders" are dirt in my book - right now they should be considering the refugees on ALL sides and provide humanitarian aid. The UN has floundered under this pressure, and they should be outraged, not standing around microphones giving mealy mouthed acquiesence. US & NATO proved by this action that there are NO INTERNATIONAL TREATIES that could seriously be honored - no matter what is written, if a country attempts to tend to it's internal affairs, US & NATO will intervene. I believe this is clinton's last stand - he went after a poor small country to look BIG - only to anger the other BIG guys and in time all the other little guys. Too bad clinton was standing on US soil. China will nail his ass when he tries to talk about Taiwan and it will get ugly for that tiny nation. Clinton is a faust - sold his soul. Jacalyn
